What’s an authorized generic?

It’s the brand-name drug sold without the brand name, under the brand’s own FDA approval. Same ingredients, same strength, same form. It often costs less, but pharmacies don’t always offer it unless you ask.

Everything on DrugAlt comes from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA): its list of authorized generics and its National Drug Code Directory. We update it every week. The last update was September 23, 2026.
